Human trafficking is characterized by the use of force, fraud or coercion to lure their victims into some type of labor or commercial sex act.
Not all of these above factors may be present in every situation. Human trafficking is a crime which is seldom reported due to language barriers, fear of traffickers and possibly fear of law enforcement itself.
Craigslist, to their credit ... removed the "Personals" section within their online service in March of 2018 due to Federal legislative decree stiffening penalties associated with sex trafficking. It was the right move legally, ethically and morally.
Sex trafficking is a subset of the larger issue known as "Human Trafficking."
It is not an unreasonable stretch of logic to equate sex trafficking with the trafficking of labor, e.g. illegals being brought into the U.S. for the purpose of working in American businesses.
A good number of American businesses are INDEED guilty of said labor trafficking. No place is it more evident than in the Agribusiness sector of our economy. BIG Agri-businesses have a track record of advertising south of the U.S. border for workers to populate their plants, lots and fields, Advertising takes place in areas with high unemployment (financially hard hit by corporate food producers), thus making these unemployed workers susceptible to the LURE of perceived money that can be made here in the U.S. Once workers sign on, they are in turn bused to these working environments ... where working conditions are marginal at best and pay is sub par to wages paid American citizens.
These illegal laborers are now enslaved until said time they are no longer useful.
I'm not for borders that are porous, NOR am I for the trafficking of human labor just to line the pockets of American businesses. Underpaying and enslaving illegal workers just so we as consumers can pay less for the products we buy (or companies can make more profit for their stockholders) is just plain WRONG AND EVIL.
You and I can no longer hide from this hideous practice ... This practice is at the very core of our current illegal alien debate.
The entire world can see it now and I am ashamed of our leaders and our businesses. PLUS, I am damn ANGRY.
