Are "WE" Indepensible???

The events of this week have reminded me of just how important we really think we are to the overall scheme of things & how quickly it all can change.

Apple's leader has to step aside for health reasons & Google's leader is replaced suddenly ... both of these individuals would seem to be @ the top of their game & critical to the operations of their respective companies but, they are now gone.

The "Jobs" transition was unpredictable due to health (How many health issues have changed our lives???) & Schmidt was just NOT deemed capable to meeting future challenges ... WOW

Perhaps we are just placing too much emphasis on things that simply don't matter.

Maybe our real significance is exactly what we are doing now ... me talking to you, you reading ... us, connecting & enjoying the people/family/friends that are in our lives RIGHT now.

I for one don't want to be remembered as a tax person, consultant, accountant or CPA.

I would like to be remembered by those that I am around for the way I loved, cared & sacrificed on their behalf.

Through this I hope to be "Indepensible"

Behavioral Modification

I have spent the last week or so being around young school age children in our local school district. Ages ranging from Prep-K up to early high school. I have to admit it's fascinating to watch how the system works in order to make these young people comply with acceptable behavior. For example ...  be quiet when they want to talk, sit still when they want to dance, study when they want to play, stand in line when they wish to wander and the biggie to say that which is acceptable to say as opposed to speaking honestly about what's in their hearts and minds. As somewhat of an outsider, I watched the enforcers take action against those who failed to comply. Amazingly enough, the students did exactly what they were told to do. BUT ...... As soon as the enforcer was gone, they became who they are ... KIDS!!! You got to love them!!!

Our Current Political Leaders are a DISGRACE

This current batch of political leaders are most disingenuous ... thus, disgracing their elevated leadership status. Perhaps, referring to them as such is a little strong .... nevertheless, it may NOT be too far off the mark. If any of our elected leaders truly cared about a solution to the immigration problem, then at this very moment we would be talking about workable solutions instead of blaming each other for the lack thereof. The images we are being presented with regarding detention of children are simply put forth to elicit emotional outbursts as opposed to serving as a basis for generating solutions to the overall problem of illegal immigration and border security. Once again, the defenseless  (in this case the most helpless of all ... children) are getting hurt and are no more than political pawns. Hey!!! Washington ... these defenseless folks have families, breath, blood and emotions. Management types in business, will tell the minions ... that if we are not par...

Human - Sex/Labor Trafficking

Human trafficking is characterized by the use of force, fraud or coercion to lure their victims into some type of labor or commercial sex act. Not all of these above factors may be present in every situation. Human trafficking is a crime which is seldom reported due to language barriers, fear of traffickers and possibly fear of law enforcement itself. Craigslist, to their credit ... removed the "Personals" section within their online service in March of 2018 due to Federal legislative decree stiffening penalties associated with sex trafficking. It was the right move legally, ethically and morally. Sex trafficking is a subset of the larger issue known as "Human Trafficking." It is not an unreasonable stretch of logic to equate sex trafficking with the trafficking of labor, e.g. illegals being brought into the U.S. for the purpose of working in American businesses.
