From my perspective, it would seem that those that have the greatest impact upon the success of any company are the employees who make it happen day after day after day.
Yet, those that make the least money are those who make it happen day after day after day.
Years ago, I spent a considerable amount of time training regarding how to handle a client as soon as they walked in the door of the business. I mean the training was so detailish that we were aware of exactly how many minutes (& seconds) the client had to wait until they were serviced by one of the company’s employee folks. Then of course, we were to be aware of every aspect of how we acted while with the client.
The goal, to have a happy client leave believing they had been well served such that there was no doubt that when faced with the same needs next year …. They would return to do it all over again.
Corporate profits were predicated upon this process. It would seem to me that the employee is pretty important to this company’s success.
Zipping ahead to the nasty now & now …..
My current company is losing market share to apparently another company (so management says) because WE the employees are simply not doing it right. They also say they are making more money than ever ... go figure???
Not wearing the right clothes, not saying the right things, not working enough hours, not cleaning the company equipment adequately, not reporting defective equipment & not putting forth the right kind of image that from the company’s perspective is sufficient to compel a client when the need for our services comes about, that the only logical choice is to call us up & let us do our thing.
I would have to surmise that we (the employee) are pretty important to this corporations' profits. We in the field are absolutely critical to the rise & fall of the company’s empire.
Now, my point, again ….
The LEAST PAID (least rewarded & respected) of any person working for the companies above is the employee working on the line & making it happen day after day after day.
I ask, “Is that right?” … Hell NO, it’s not right & be certain of this … THERE IS BETTER WAY.
Maybe a good start would to be ... Pay more money to the workers/employees so that THEY TOO can afford the service they are providing (Henry Ford knew about this concept).
